Locating Instruction Modes

Course instruction modes can be located in the myUCCS Portal under your class schedule for any given semester.

In Person (P)

Course section is offered 100% on campus.
These sections meet in person during the specified day(s)/time(s).
The class displays a Facility ID (Classroom), Instruction Mode and day(s)/time(s) in the MyUCCS Portal.
Section Number Display: 001, 002, 003

HyFlex (HF)

HyFlex is defined as, "Hybrid with Flexibility." 
These courses have an Instruction Mode of HF (HyFlex). This course is offered as a combination of both in-person and online content.
Students should expect to be available for all of the days and times listed, and may be required to attend in-person class meetings dependent on the instructor's syllabus.
Please reach out to the instructor/department for further details on how to expect this specific HyFlex course section to run.
Class will display the Facility ID (classroom) and day(s)/time(s) in the student portal.
No online fee associated.
Section Number Display: 001, 002, 003

Hybrid (H1)

Hybrid – instruction is mostly online (50% - 99% online).
Sections meet in person during the specified day(s)/time(s) with additional online content.
Class displays a Facility ID (Classroom) and day(s)/time(s) in the myUCCS Portal.
Section Number Display: H01, H02, H03

Hybrid course sections are differentiated from Blended course sections by their ratio of in person to online instruction:

Blended (H2)

Blended – instruction is mostly in the classroom (1% - 49% online).
Sections meet in person during the specified day(s)/time(s) with additional online content.
Class displays a Facility ID (Classroom) and day(s)/time(s) in the myUCCS Portal.
Section Number Display: B01, B02, B03

Blended course sections are differentiated from Hybrid course sections by their ratio of in person to online instruction:

Online Synchronous (OS)

Course section is offered 100% online, meeting during the specified day(s)/time(s). Class displays the Facility ID “Meets Online” with day(s)/time(s) in the Portal.
These sections have been strategically structured to be offered in an online format.
All OS class sections have a $100 online course fee associated.
Section Number Display: OS1, OS2, OS3

Online Asynchronous (OA)

Course section is offered 100% online with no required meeting day(s)/time(s).
These sections have been strategically structured to be offered in an online format.
All OL class sections have a $100 online course fee associated.
Section Number Display: OL1, OL2, OL3

Independent Study (IS)

Independent Study allows students an opportunity to explore educational opportunities outside the traditional classroom environment.
Section Number Display: 901, 902, 903 or

Graduate Candidate for Degree (CD)

Master and Doctoral degree candidates who have finished all coursework may need to be enrolled in a zero-credit placeholder titled “Candidate for Degree.” 
Section Number Display: 001, 002, 003 or 801, 802, 803
